It started with an idea....

Remember Me Forever Productions started as most businesses do as an idea in the summer of 1998. My Grandmother had passed away several years before. However, there were still discussions as to who among her children would get to have which pictures.

While visiting with family, I was playing on the computer and started scanning and enhancing a couple of the photos. We thought, "Wouldn't it be great if we could get all of the precious photos into the computer?" That is the genesis of our service. As with all good ideas, this one continued to grow and develop.

Then it grew....

First we wanted to find a way to share these images. CD-ROM turned out to be an ideal medium. You can include 250-300 high quality photos on a CD, and most computers now have CDs.

But how interesting is it to simply have files on a disk. To be really useful this needs to be in scrapbook format. The next concern was "How can this be used on any system, PC or Mac?" The solution was to use HTML code and JPEG images. This means that people could use the scrapbook on PC or Mac, using their own browser (Netscape or Internet Explorer), and I was able to license Netscape, so I could include Netscape for PC and Mac on my CDs.

The next idea was "Wouldn't it be great to include genealogy with the photos, and include photos with the genealogy?" So I investigated. There are multiple genealogy programs that allow you to add photos to your genealogy, however, all of these packages lack the flexibility that I was looking for.

My family and I decided to put together a package to give to our families for Christmas 1998. After much trial and error, and after trying various software packages, I was able to find a combination that allowed me the flexibility and quality I desired.

Finally it flowered....

We ended up sending out 21 copies of this disk, and after hearing all the rave reviews and comments, I decided that there was nothing I would rather do than help other families preserve and share their histories. Most of the families who have used this have discovered interesting facts about their families just by carefully going through their photos and documents. That is what is really exciting.

- One person was looking at an enlarged photo and recognized a necklace she now owns on a photo of her Grandmother in 1889. The necklace now has much more sentimental value.

- Another person had many photos that no one knew who the people in the photos were. They thought that these people may not even be relatives. She found information in the box of photos that gave her the link between one of her ancestors and a person in one photo. From that one piece of information, suddenly, she was able to determine who many of the people are. She now has many more historic photos.

Then if developed further....

Since Remember Me Forever Productions opened it's doors in August, we have continued to improve on the process, and add new complimentary services. We have now expanded from Family History/Genealogy, to offer Wedding Album packages, Mission albums, etc. We can copy the format and look of your existing scrapbook, or build a new format if you have not yet put your pictures in a scrapbook.

One of the more recent developments is the addition of digital restoration and colorization to our services. We can take photos that are damaged, torn, stained, faded, etc. and restore then as closely as possible to the original undamaged photo. Of course, the more damage, the more time it will take, and the more difficult it is to restore. We can even remove people from photos, or add people. We also can now colorize black and white photos. We can also take color photos, convert them to black and white and then colorize them.

We are constantly looking to add new services and features. Do you think "I wonder if they could do this?" If it is anything related to photos and genealogy on computers, ask us. If it is not something we are currently doing, we'll try and find a way.

Take a look at what we have done. Think about your families photos.
